Silent Hill is a Franco-American film of Christophe Gans, left in 2006, adapted Video game Silent Hill.

Synopsis

To overcome the crises of Sleepwalking acute of her daughter, during which this one is found in danger, Rose is ready with all. She will find herself trapped in a world of ruins and desolation populated of worrying creatures…

In spite of the protests of his/her husband (Sean Bean), Rose (Radha Mitchell) led her daughter Sharon (Jodelle Ferland) in an abandoned city of the name of Silent Hill in Western Virginia which irresistibly seems to attract the child. Whereas they penetrate in this lugubrious universe, Sharon disappears. Rose continues what she believes being the silhouette of her daughter, but account goes quickly that this strange place does not resemble nothing of what she knows.

Around film

The film is carried out by Christophe Gans, the realizer of the Pacte of the wolves . During turning, film taken code name of Centralia, which is the name of a mining city of Pennsylvania which knew a fire of mine and which is from now on inaccessible because of the toxic fumes that there is still, just like to Silent Hill. Turning proceeded April 25th with the July 22nd 2005.

The screen of the history is inspired mainly by the scenario of the first Silent Hill , left initially on PlayStation. Esthetics comes from Silent Hill 2 and the plans of camera are often borrowed from Silent Hill 4 .

In the saga of the Silent Hill on PlayStation, the first shutter follows a widowed man of the name of Harry Mason and his/her daughter Cheryl Mason/Alessa Gillepsie. In film, it is about a woman married in the name of Rose Da Silva and of his/her daughter Sharon Da Silva/Alessa Gillepsie. And all the other characters remain the same ones such as Alessa Gillepsie, Cybil Bennett, etc We can also bring closer Claudia Wolf, of Silent Hill 3, the character of Christabella, for his religious madness and its fatal impulses. It should be noted that the name Christabella appears in two Comics Silent Hill: Dying Inside (2004) and Dead-Alive (2006) (scenarios Scott Ciencin, drawings Ben Templesmith, Aadi Salman and Nick Stakal).

Let us note that at the time of the realization of film, Christophe Gans would have received many death threats on behalf of fans of the play, those not wanting to see their favorite world betrayed by a feature-length film which would not have been in conformity with the spirit of Silent Hill
