Silence and shades

Of silence and the shades (original title: To Kill has Mockingbird ) is a film of Robert Mulligan left the December 25th 1962, adaptation of the novel do not shoot at the bird mocker Harper Lee.

Synopsis

Atticus Finch, a lawyer in the south of the United States of the Thirties must defend a marked black man of rape. The account, told through the memories and the glance of his/her children Scout and Jem, is strewn with details on the life and mentalities of the time as well as anecdotes of vicinities (of which some inspired by the memories of childhood of the author of the novel).

the role of Boo Radley inspired the British musical group The Boo Radleys and the main character, the Atticus rock group.

Demi Moore and Bruce Willis named their Scout daughter according to the heroin of the book/film. The actor Jake Gyllenhaal for its part named his two dogs Atticus and Boo Radley.

It is the favorite film of the realizer Cameron Crowe who refers there in several of his own films: Almost Famous starts when the protagonists leave a cinema playing To Kill has Mockingbird ; in Vanilla Sky , a scene between Atticus and Scout belong to the visual memories of David Aames (played by Tom Cruise).
