Sikorsky S-42
The Sikorsky S-42 was the first Hydravion really able to cross the oceans. The transport company air Pan American Airways had made it build in ten specimens by the aeronautical division of the company Vought-Sikorsky of the group United Aircraft Corporation with Stratford (Connecticut). All the ten were destroyed in accidents or finally withdrawn of the service and envoys to breakage. The first plane stole on March 30th 1934. It was also called (in the United States) Flying Clipper or Pan Am Clipper . A named English company'' British Marine Aircraft Ltd. '' 1936 was founded in February to manufacture seaplanes S-42-A under license with the the United Kingdom but the project does not succeed. This company built a factory on the east coast vis-a-vis the peninsula of Hamble with a slope of setting to water in bay of Southampton. When the business went bankrupt, the company was sold with H.P. Folland which it repaptisa Folland Aircraft Limited.
