Island of the Cyclades located at 113 marine miles of the Pirée. It has a surface of 41 km ² and (1985) 300 inhabitants.
It would hold its name of Sikinos, wire of a king of Limnos, Thoanta.
In antiquity, it was also called Oinoï, because of its many vignes.
Its first inhabitants would have arrived at the time mycénienne. Then, it was populated by Ioniens.
In Ve century before our era, it was under the domination of Athens.
