Sigonce

Sigonce ( Sigonça in Of Provence according to the traditional Standard and Sigounço according to the Standard mistralienne) is a common French, located in the department of the Alp-of-High-Provence and the area Provence-Alp-Coast of Azure.

Its inhabitants is called Sigonciers (or Sigonçois).

Being with nearly 500 meters of altitude and not far from Forcalquier (9 km), this small village of Provence of almost 400 inhabitants lets to us discover small flowered and shaded small squares, old restored stones, with in backdrop nature and its blue sky.

One can visit there the church of St Claude of the 14th century and 16th century, the castle and the old mill.

Inter alia:

• Barlière of Lauzon, from his truths name Claude Ferdinand Estève, was born in Sigonce (04) on June 6th, 1855. For this poet Sigoncier, the worms, prose, French, the of Provence one did not have a secrecy. He wrote hundreds of poems, letters, poems philosophical of which some are found in the collection of the " Matutinales". He devoted in this one two beautiful poems on Sigonce: " Moun vilagi" (My village) written into of Provence and " The rivière" (Barlière) which points out so many memories to him. It had been allowed with the C M With. D. (Société of the Authors and Dramatic Type-setters) on November 4th, 1921. He died in Marseilles (13) on November 18th, 1937.
