Sigmar Gabriel

Sigmar Gabriel , born the September 12th 1959 with Goslar, is a German politician , member of the social democrat Parti (SPD) since 1977.

After having studied the German literature, the policy and sociology with Göttingen, it is teaching of 1989 to 1990 in the training area of the adults.

He is appointed with the Landtag of Lower Saxony of 1990 to 2005, and chair group SPD of 2003 to 2005. He was, of the December 15th 1999 with the March 4th 2003, Minister-president of the Land of Lower Saxony.

At the time of the elections of 2005, he is elected member of the Bundestag . He is since November 22nd, 2005 federal minister for the Environment, Protection of nature and the Nuclear security in the Cabinet Merkel. It sucède thus with the green Jürgen Trittin, which was minister since October 27th, 1998.
