Sigma (capital tiny Σ , σ , written at the end of the word), in Greek σῖγμα , of the Greek alphabet is the 18th letter.
It has also a “lunar” form Сс resulting from the uncial writing from which the С from the Cyrillic alphabet is resulting, which is worth also /s/, whereas the C of the Latin alphabet is a deformation of the Gamma (Γ) Greek.
In Greek old as in Greek modern, it decides /s/ as in French to know except front the sound ones - β - γ - μ where she decides /z/ (as in French desire )
