With died their father in 1486, Jean Ier Cicéron de Brandebourg inherited the margravat of Ansbach and the electorate of Brandebourg. As for Sigismond, he inherited the margravat of Brandebourg-Bayreuth. With its death, it was his/her older brother, Frederic Ier de Brandebourg-Ansbach which inherited the principality of Ansbach.
