Sigismond Ier of Poland

Sigismond Ier the Old man (° January 1st 1467 - † April 1st 1548), (in Polish Zygmunt I Stary and Lithuanian Zygimantas Senasi ) king de Pologne and Large-duke of Lithuania of 1506 with 1548.

Fifth wire of Casimir IV of Poland and Elisabeth de Habsbourg born on January 1st 1467. It is named by his older brother Vladislas king of Bohemia: duke of Głogów (1498 - 1506) and of Opole (1501 - 1506) in Silesia.

Reign

the June 20th 1506 he becomes king of Poland and Large-duke of Lithuania with died of his/her brother Alexandre I {{er}} Jagellon

1507 with 1527, alterations of the royal castle of the Wawel to Cracow.

1507 with 1508, first war tells the principality of Moscow

1512, demolished Tatars of the Crimea in Wisniowiec.

1512 with 1522, second war against the principality of Moscow: defeat of Russian with Orsza in 1514.

1515, meets with Vienna between kings Jagellon Sigismond Ier and Vladislas II Jagellon king of Hungary and Bohemia, and the Emperor Maximilien I {{er}} of the Holy roman Empire, for a new matrimonial union between Jagellon and Habsbourg.

1519 with 1521, war against the Prussia finished by a 4 years armistice.

1520, the Diets of Torun and Bydgoszcz, issue one day an obligatory country drudgery per week.

1525, Albert de Brandebourg secularizes the state of the Ordre Teutonique of which he was the Large Master, passes to Protestantism and on April 10th returns to homage to Cracow with king de Pologne his uncle, as a duke of Prussia.

1527, After death in 1524 of Stanislas de Czersk duke of Warsaw and that in 1526 of his/her brother Janusz III of Mazovie incorporation of the duchy Piast of Mazovie in Poland.

1529, his/her only son Sigismond II Auguste is elected king of Poland.

1544, the October 6th Sigismond II Auguste, his son, is Large-duke of Lithuania.

1534 with 1537, third war with Moscovie

1548, on April 1st old king Sigismond Ier dies.

Sigismond Ier had married:

in 1512 Barbara Szapolyai (1495 - 1515) girl of Istvan Zsapolyai count de Zips from which was born:
* Hedwige (1513 - 1573) married in 1535 with the voter Joachim II Hector de Brandebourg (1505 - 1571).
in 1518 Bona Sforza (1494 - 1557) girl of Jean Galéas Sforza, duke of Milan, from which were born:
* Isabelle (1519 - 1559) wife in 1539 of Jean Zsapolyai king de Hongrie
* Sigismond II Auguste king de Pologne
* Anne (1523 - 1596) wife in 1575 of Etienne Bathory king de Pologne.
* Catherine (1526 - 1583) wife in 1562 of Jean III of Sweden

Sigismond Ier also had an illegitimate son of its mistress Katarzyna Telniczenka died in 1528:

Jean (in Lithuanian, Jonas kunigailkciu ) (1499 - 1539) bishop of Vilnius of 1519 with 1536 then bishop of Poznan of 1536 with 1539.
