Sifra
Sifra (in araméen: סִפְרָא) is the Midrash halakha Lévitique. It is frequently quoted in the Talmud, and its study followed that of the Mishna, ainsiq u' it appears in Tanhuma, quoted in Or Zaroua, I. 7b. Just as the Book of Lévitique itself, the Midrash is sometimes called " Torat Cohanim " (Ḳid. 33a; Sanh. 103b; Cant. R. VI. 8), and in two passages also " Sifra debe Rab" (Ber. 11b, 18b).
Author
Maïmonide, in the introduction of sound Yad ha-Ḥazaḳah, and others, quoted by Friedmann, in the introduction of its edition of the Mekhilta (p. xxvi., Vienna, 1870), declared that the title " Sifra debe Rab" indicate that Abba Arika (called " Rab") is the author of Sifra.
