Sif (goddess)
In the Scandinavian Mythology, Sif (Old Icelandic Sif , to bring closer to sifjar “affinity, related by marriage”; the sif word is moreover one synonym of jörð “ground”) is one of the Asynes, and Thor marries it. With him, it had Thrud and Modi. It is also the mother of Ull, by a father not named. She is comparable with the prophetess Sibylle and could transform herself into swan.
She was present at the feast which Ægir offered to the Ases.
Gold is called “hair of Sif”, because Loki had cut the hair to him, and replaced them by a made gold hair, forged by the dwarf Brokk and Eitri. This hair had the capacity to push like truths hair.
For Snorri Sturluson, Sif is identical to the giant Járnsaxa.
