Personalities related to the commune
Monseigneur Henri Alfred Hoffmann bishop of Djibouti, born on September 24th, 1909 in Siewiller. It enters to the convent of the Capucins to Koenigshoffen and reads its first mass with Siewiller in 1936. He is then missionary of 1936 to 1944 with Madagascar and in Somalia. It is ordered bishop in the cathedral of Strasbourg on August 4th, 1957. He is the first bishop of Djibouti, and he made there build a cathedral. He dies suddenly in Paris in XIVe district on March 23rd, 1979. He is buried in the church Sainte Dorothée de Siewiller.
