Siegerrebe

The siegerrebe is a German Cépage of black grapes.

Origin and geographical distribution

The type of vine is obtaining the testing institute Landesanstalt für Rebenzüchtung of Alzey in Germany by Georg Scheu in 1929 by crossing the Madeleine Angevine and the Gewürztraminer.

The surface planted is in regression (1990: 200 ha; 2001:145 ha; 2004:118 ha). It is classified authorized in the majority of the German vineyards.

Characters ampelographic

  • End of the young branch very duveteux white with rosy edging.
  • Young aranéeuses sheets, yellowish green.
  • adult Sheets, to 3 to 5 lobes with sines higher than narrow quadrant, closed, a sine closed, teeth ogival, average, broad, a limb slightly aranéeux.

Farming aptitudes

Maturity is early: 15 days before the chasselas. It is normally gathered the grapes starting from September 15th.

Technological potential

The bunches are average and the bays are of intermediate size and color rosâtre. The bunch is cylindrical, winged and often coward. The grapes are very scented with the spiced and muscaté taste. In rich grounds it expresses a light tendency to run-out. Very early, this type of vine can be seriously damaged by the wasps. The millerandage is frequent at the time of flowering. It gives wines delicately fruity and round, sometimes liqueur-like often missing acidity.
