Siegen-Wittgenstein

The district of Siegen-Wittgenstein , in German Kreis Siegen-Wittgenstein , is a administrative division German, located in the Land Rhineland-of-North-Westphalia.

Geographical location

The district of Siegen-Wittgenstein ( Kreis Siegen-Wittgenstein ) is located at the south of the Westphalia and thus at the south of the Land of Rhineland-of-North-Westphalia. It has limits with the districts of Olpe and the Haut-Sauerland like with the districts hessois of Waldeck-Frankenberg, Marburg-Biedenkopf and Lahn-Dill and the districts rhénano-palatiens of the Westerwald and Altenkirchen.

History

The district was created on January 1st, 1975 by law of November 5th, 1974 by amalgamating the old districts of Siegen and Wittgenstein under the name of Siegen. January 1st, 1984, the Council Decision to re-elect it district of Siegen-Wittgenstein took effect.
