Sidonie Baba
Sidonie Baba , of her true name Eve Solange Small terrace-Duvernon, or Solange Duvernon (born on June 29th, 1905 with Remiremont, the Vosges, dead on January 12th, 1973 with the Hospital of Paris) is a French Chanteuse of variety and cabaret, Journaliste and Poète.
Biography
Solange Duvernon is the girl of Alphonse Raoul Small terrace-Duvernon, painter, and of Marthe Chevalier, piano teacher. She is the sister of the commander Small terrace-Duvernon (known in the French maquis). She will marry a certain Boris Michel Zilioff.
Gone up to very young Paris, Solange Duvernon tries to begin a career from actress. She will be thus made recommend near the actor and French theater director, André Antoine. She starts by writing and making play a lyric tale, both insane , in 1926. It is undoubtedly at that time that it starts to attend the literary and artistic circles. Thus, it publishes in 1928, in the editor Maurice Sénac, a collection of poems entitled Between Four Walls , prefaced by Joseph Delteil. The collection will remain confidential, drawn only with 350 specimens. This collection announces in title page the preparation of two other collections as of two news which one does not have today any more of trace. These projects were perhaps not completed, or perhaps were found inserted in the two other collections that Solange will publish then. Solange also writes articles in the newspaper the Opinion .
In parallel, Solange Duvernon launches out in the popular Chanson and occurs in several Cabaret S, with the " Jockey" with Montparnasse and at Suzy Solidor, Street Holy-Anne. Solange has a certain reputation, since in 1931 one has finds it as a cover for review Midinette , kind of illustrated light review interfering questions mode and current events. Its career of singer continues, and on December 8th, 1934, it is with the poster of a Opérette directed by Vincent Scotto and written by Rene Sarvil, played Alcazar of Paris , under the pseudonym of Sidonie Baba.
As from 1935, and especially in 1936, she writes many articles for two magazines, “Trifle” and “the Smile” . In the Smile , re-examined erotic and cultural, Solange starts by delivering small Nouvelle S, fictionalized Anecdote S and Satire S of the fashionable Vie. At the beginning of 1936, it begins a series from news with for central figure his “aunt Sidonie”. In 1937, appears another collection of poems, Missel Profane , prefaced by Leon-Paul Fargue. This collection is also drawn with 350 specimens.
Meanwhile Sidonie opened her own cabaret, " Happy Galère" , located street Holy-Anne. It is undoubtedly during this period that it meets various female personalities. Introduced by the famous singer Yvette Guilbert who will be her godmother, Solange attends the writer Rachilde, to defer it sphere-second hand Titayna, or the actress Régine Camier. These personalities “sponsor” Sidonie. Mr Serge, the writer Pierre Bertin, also attend the place. She enjoys then a certain popularity and in the Forties she records several titles for the company Pathé, of which the Ball of the three candles that she launches to " ABC" , Parisian variety directed by Mitty Goldin celebrates. Sidonie will continue her career of singer during the war, which will be worth some criticisms with the Release to him.
In 1950 it publishes its collection most largely diffused, the Happiness of the day, prefaced by the writer Pierre Mac Orlan. It is also during this period of the years 1940-50 qu' it publishes, and undoubtedly records, several of its songs, orchestrated by Rene-Ernest Casabianca. But after this date, it falls into the lapse of memory. It becomes caretaker during several years, with 38, rue de Verneuil in Paris, and dies in anonymity on January 12th, 1973 with the Hôtel-Dieu of Paris, at the 68 years age, “if tristelette and if pauvrette”.
