Sidobre

The Sidobre is a granitic territory of approximately 10 km out of 10 km covered of forests, located in the Tarn, with the south-western point of the Massif Central, between Lacrouzette, Ferrières, Saint-Salvy-with-the-Balme and Lafontasse. The erosion of water left there some remarkable natural constructions, among which:

  • the rock of Pèira Clavada , with Lacrouzette: a block of 780 tons in balance on a natural base
  • the chaos of Resse: river of Rock S
  • the Lake of the blackbird: Lake from where emergent of the rocks rounded
  • the rock of goose: rock evoking a Goose

The Sidobre does not form part of the black Montagne.

The site of Sidobre is single in Europe by its size. There are some of the same type elsewhere in France, but much more reduced, without tens of colossal stones to the strange forms.

Place of legend and imposing: the granitic Chaos . This whole of stone is spread out over the remainders of an old river.

The Sidobre is also a zone of exploitation and shaping of the Granite, in all its applications: monuments, coatings, roadway system, etc

Several companies of exploitation of the granite are installed in Sidobre, in particular in Lacrouzette. Important markets were gained by Tarnais of Sidobre, like that of the subway of Singapore, the Fields-Élysées, or of Defense in Paris.
