Sidney Irving Smith

Sidney Irving Smith is a American zoologist , born the February 18th 1843 with Norway, Maine and dead the May 17th 1926.
He is the son of Elliot Smith and Lavinia H. born Barton. He obtains off his Bachelor Pedagogy at the scientific school of Sheffield with Yale in 1867 then his Master off Arts in 1887 always with Yale. It Marie with Eugenia P. Barber the June 29th 1882. It makes all its career with Yale: initially as assistant in Zoology (1867-1875), then like the first professor of Comparative anatomy (1875-1906) finally as professor emeritus.
Smith starts to work on the collection of Insecte S of Louis Agassiz (1807-1873) and works at the sides of Addison Emery Verrill (1839-1926). Of 1864 with 1870, Smith takes part in several forwardings with Verrill and other zoologists. It directs the operations of dredging of the underwater life in the Higher Lac in 1872. He works with the American Commission of the fishing lasting of many years.
Its collections are preserved at the Muséum of natural history Peabody and at the National Museum off Natural History.
