Sidney Camwood

Sir Sidney Camwood (March 12th, 1893 - 1966), Aeronautical Engineer English, is especially known for its drawing of the Fighter plan Hawker Hurricane.

Like young man, it was tested with aeronautics at Windsor Model Airplane Club where after having developed many reduced models, in 1912 it drew a sailplane able to carry a man. In 1925, it began at Hawker Aircraft, with Kingston-upon-Thames, in the suburbs of London as draftsman. The company had developed under the name of Sopwith during the First World War.

Soon, to Hawker, it will draw biplanes: the Binder (stag), first flight 1928, and Fury (fury), first flight 1931. The two models gave much work to the draftsmen because of many modifications and developments of each model: for the marine , foreign governments, etc With the arrival of more powerful engines, it acted to continue by developing a monoplane, the Hurricane (hurricane).
