Side-blue Coalition

The side-blue Coalition , or side-blue Force (泛藍軍 Pinyin fàn lán jūn), is a political coalition of the beginning of the 21e century with Taiwan, made up of the Kuomintang (KMT), Qinmindang (PFP), and tiny Nouveau Party (CNP). The name comes from the colors of the Kuomintang party. This coalition tends to support a Chinese nationalist identity against a Taiwanese separatist identity, in favor of a policy of collaboration and a larger economic link with RPC. She is opposed to the side-green Coalition.

Although the coalition Side-Blue is favorable to the Chinese Réunification, most of the support and of the opposition to the coalition has nothing to do with the relations with continental China. For example, the support for the coalition among the poor and the natives are raised, because of the networks of patronage which the coalition maintains.

Since 1990, Kuomintang suffers from difficult relations between those which support a Chinese nationalist identity (RPC) for Taiwan and those led by the president Li Tenghui, which support a Taiwanese identity (separatist) stronger. That led to a separation with the beginning of the year 1990, when the Nouveau Party was formed. At the time of the presidential election of 2000, Lee Teng-hui rather arranged so that Lien Chan is named like candidate of Kuomintang, than most popular James Soong, which left the party and has formed its own party: the popular party. Much Taiwanese believes that the action of Lee was an attempt deliberated on sabotage of Kuomintang to ensure the victory of Chen Shui-bian of DPP.
