For the professional fighter, to see Sid Eudy.
Sid Vicious , of its true name John Simon Ritchie (May 10th 1957, London - February 2nd 1979, New York) is a British musician , the transitory second Bassiste of the Sex Pistols, become the Icône Martyr of the movement Punk. Victim of the Heroin, it is found died in its Hôtel of the Greenwich Village in New York.
“ Sid never meant any harm,
John Simon Ritchie was born in the suburbs from London. His/her parents, John Ritchie and Ann Randall, separate very early. Ass only deals with his/her son. It leaves London to take refuge with Ibiza in friends, where it earns its living after a fashion by selling cannabis. Of return to London in 1965 whereas John is 8 years old, Ann gives up his/her son with the street. Teenager, the character of John appears violent and unforeseeable. He listens to David Bowie and T-Rex before becoming fan of Ramones. He also attends a gang, The Johns . It is at that time that it moves in a slum with Johnny Rotten which will call it Sid Vicious , this name comes owing to the fact that Johny had a hamster which had bitten Ritchie, it was named Sid, Vicious comes from its sometimes violent behavior. Johnny becomes then the singer of the Sex Pistols while passing a hearing beside the jukebox of the store of Malcolm McLaren and Vivienne Westwood to the 430, King' S Road, created in 1976 whereas Sid is 19 years old. The group not meeting success by its multiple innovations as regards provocation, the bass player Glen Matlock separates some (“supposedly that he listened to too the Beatles”). Johnny thinks then of Sid to replace it; Sid had already been used as occasional beater. Basic Sid not having never played, it learns the instrument on the heap starting from March 1977. Following this change, the chaotic and dépravée image of Sid immediately benefits the group which is a public federated under the banner of the punk one. Sid makes provocation a basic rule; one thus saw it adorning a Tee-shirt trimmed with a Svastika or Croix-gammée in Future reference to the No of a generation which does not have anything to lose. The concerts of Sex Pistols are then punctuated access of violence which is with omnipresent drug in the spirit of the group (birth of the pogo). At the time of a visit at Linda, a friend of Johnny Rotten, Sid meets Nancy Spungen, an American young person junkie with whom it will have a connection. The image of Sid is then very clear, it is the incarnation of the masochism of the junkie, of violence…
The last one turning of the life of Sid occurs on October 12th, 1978. The body of Nancy is found stabbed in their room of the Chelsea Hotel. Sid is stopped then slackened in bond. The investigation leads finally to a history of settling of score between dealers. In waiting of its lawsuit, Sid continues its escape ahead in drug until the overdose. The February 2nd 1979, it is found died; the icon of punk was only 21 years old…
