The island of New Siberia (Russian НоваяСибирь/ Ru-Latn Nowaja Sibir ) belonged to the Archipelago of New Siberian Islandss (sub-group of the Anjou islands) located in the Arctic Ocean, in the north of the coasts of the Eastern Siberia between the Sea of Laptev and the Sea of Eastern Siberia. On the administrative level it is attached to the République of Sakha (Yakoutie) in Russia.

The island has a surface of approximately 6.200 km2 and is very punt (it culminates with 76 meters). It is made up of grounds of Quaternary and is mainly covered with fossil ice of the last glacial period. The tundra dominates the zones which are not covered by the ices. The island was discovered by Russian merchants in 1806.
