Shuchō era
The era Shuchō (in Japanese: ja 朱鳥) is one of the eras of Japan (ja 年号, nengō, literally “the name of the year”) according to the era Hakuchi and preceding the Taihō extending from 686 with 701. The reigning empress and the emperor were Jitō - tennō (ja 持統天皇) and Mommu - tennō (ja 文武天皇).

The Shuchō era was proclaimed at the time of the thirty-seventh year of the era Hakuchi (686).
