Short pants

One called formerly short pants a intermediate Vêtement often of size between the Short and the Bermuda.

The hygienists of the end of the 19th century launched a mode, that to make them carry to the children and the young people. This fashion was established during the beginning of the 20th century, to culminate of the Années 1920 with the 1940.

It was then the clothing emblematic of youth and it was usual, at that time, to go to the school, the Collège and the Lycée, even with the Université, in this behavior, sometimes in winter. The images of the books intended for youth, the photographs of class of this time testify some.

Later, in the years 1950 to 1960, this behavior was confined little by little at younger ages. On the photographs of class of the years 1950, the short pants disappear in general as from the second. Then this tendency disappeared in the years 1970.

This fashion has pereclity today, though long-lived resident at the Scouts, created by Baden-Powell at the beginning of the 20th century.

Perception that one had some at the time is very different from the current one. Proof of this shift, one associated the short pants with jacket and tie to constitute costumes for young people. That would seem incoherent nowadays.
