Shootfighting

Shootfighting is a Sport of combat and a Martial art, with contests governed by the International association of Shootfighting (ISFA). The shootfighting incorporates techniques of a multitude of traditional martial arts, the majority of the principles come from Thai Muay and Wrestling Wrestling.

The term shootfighting was often confused with the called Japanese compétions mixed martial arts, in opposition to the competitions of shot-style professional wrestling. This confusion it is finished when it became a registered trademark of Bart Vale, which employs it to describe its system of hybrid combat derived from the shot wrestling, but it is still sometimes employed familiarly.

The terms Pancrace, Shot boxing and Shooto, was formerly associated with the shootfighting. Now, several combatants still regard themselves as being always shootfighters. The sport does not reveal any resemblance with the Shootfighter film.

Ken Shamrock was probably the combatant of shootfighters more recognized, when this discipline was credited by the UFC.
