Sholay
Sholay (Hindi: शोल) is an Indian film of Ramesh Sippy left in 1975.
Synopsis
Sholay , literally " the ball of feu" , tells the adventures of two shadies full with audacity, Veeru (Dharmendra) and Jai (Amitabh Bachchan). Thakur Baldev Singh (Sanjeev KUMAR), police officer reprocessed with the head of a field, makes leave prison both comparses - which at one time saved to him the life at the time of an attack of train - so that they capture Gabbar Singh (Amjad Khan), the gangster who terrorizes the area. It will be able to thus avenge its family which wildly was formerly killed by this last.

Around film
It belongs to very first films to have made known the Indian cinema in occident. Drawing its inspiration in the Western, including spaghetti. There Ramesh Sippy, then 27 years old, signed a commercial real success in India, where the film remained with the poster during 10 years. It is about one of the largest " blockbuster" history of the Bollywood with a receipt which is assembled to 2.134.500.000 Rs. In 1999, the BBC-India chain declared it “film of millénium”. However at its exit, the film did not gain an immediate success. It is the word of mouth and a particularly successful original soundtrack who drained soon thousands of fans in the rooms.
Turning
Sholay was turned in the desert landscapes of the valley of Chambal. Ramesh Sippy, the realizer, was 27 years old at the time and played its go-all: he and his/her father, the producer G.P. Sippy knew serious financial problems and thought of stopping the cinema. In the context of the state of emergency issued by Indira Gandhi, the final scene had to be modified to satisfy the censure: in the beginning, Thakur did itself justice by carrying out the Gabbar gangster… In the version selected, it delivers it to the police officers.
Music
The film comprises five sung scenes: R.D. Burman, which composed the original soundtrack of film, was at the top of its career in 1975, at the time of the realization.-
“Yeh Dosti” - sung by Kishore KUMAR and Manna Dey
- “Mehbooba Mehbooba” - sung by Rahul Dev. Burman; this song, resumption Hindi of a title of Demis Roussos ( O beloved beloved ) is always a tube, regularly diffused in the discotheques and the evenings.
- “Holi Ke DIN” - sung by Kishore KUMAR and Lata Mangeshkar

Rewards
- Sholay was elected better film of these 50 last years at the time of edition 2005 of the Filmfare Awards. In 1976, the film had been nominated in several categories but had gained only the price of the best assembly.
