Shmi Skywalker

Shmi Skywalker is a character of the Star Wars. George Lucas chose her first name starting from Lakshmi, a goddess Hindou E.

Mother of Anakin Skywalker, which will become Dark Vador, and slave of Watto, it will marry Cliegg Lars little time after the departure of her son.

Shmi meets the Master Jedi Who-Gon Jinn, come on Tatooine in order to repair its vessel. The Jedi Master is astonished by the force that the body of Anakin Skywalker releases, his nine year old son, relatively gifted for the races of pods, where the reflexes are vital. This characteristic persuades Which-Gon that Anakin is Jedi of prophecy intended to remove the Seigneurs Sith and requires of Shmi to meet the father of Anakin. Surprisingly she answers him that he forever have of father and that it put it at the world only. Which-Gon Jinn is a little surprised of this declaration, but insists all the same so that Anakin accompanies it on Coruscant in order to present it to the Conseil Jedi. Separation between Anakin and its mother is very hard for the young boy but dreaming to become Jedi, it leaves his mother and accompanies the Jedi Master.

Arrive the episode II, where Watto learns in Anakin, nineteen years now, that his/her mother was bought then freed and married with her new owner, Cliegg Lars, which lives in the desert with the variation of the town of Mos Esley. Anakin there goes in company Padmé and learns by Cliegg Lars that his/her mother was removed by the Tuskens. Anakin which for a few days has seen it suffering in its dreams has a bad presentiment and, already the aggressive heart, decides to go to the Tusken camp, where he discovers his tortured and weakened mother. Anakin has only time to take it in its arms before it from goes away forever.

Consequences

The separation of Anakin of his/her mother, necessary evil so that Anakin becomes Jedi, Jedi not having to have of fastener, undermined the spirit of the Padawan. It is always desired not to have been present during its removal and especially not to have been able to save it when it discovered it dying. The reaction of anger and the massacre which followed are a proof that Anakin does not have the spirit posed and rational that Jedi must have, because it is let carry by its feelings. Its incapacity to save his/her mother will be the major element which will involve it towards the obscure side of the Force. Not having been able to save Shmi, he wants to do everything to prevent Padmé from dying during the childbirth (he failed once, he will not fail a second like he says it in the episode III) and decides to carry allegiance to Dark Sidious, this last revealing to him that Sith very powerful have to provide it to create the life. It is starting from this revelation that Anakin will agree to become the lord Sith Dark Vador, because as Jedi it did not find yet of means to prevent Padmé from dying in layer, and goes obscure side in the hope to control the capacity which can bring the gift of the life.

Notice

Dark Sidious speaks about Sith able to create the life (which is not other than its own Master, Dark Plagueis). It is thus not impossible that Dark Sidious learned this capacity before using it. A mother thus does not require for father if it can create the life. Thus Dark Sidious would be perhaps the father and the creator of Anakin Skywalker, from where the great power of Anakin (it is only a assumption ).
