Luis Miguel González Lucas known as “Luis Miguel Dominguín” is old a Matador Spanish born with Madrid (Spain) the November 9th 1926, died with San Roque (Spain, Province of Cadiz) the May 8th 1996. It was wire of the matador “Domingo Dominguín”.

Presentation

It toréa under the Apodo (“pseudonym”) of “Dominguín”, that also used his/her father, Domingo Gonzalez Mateos, and his/her brothers, Domingo and Jose. It is however most famous of the “Dominguín” and that which generally this Apodo indicates.

Regarded as one of the most popular matadors of the years 1940 and 1950, it begins at twelve years in the arenas from Lisbon (Portugal). It takes the alternative the August 2nd 1944 to Corogne, with like godfather Domingo Ortega.

Blazing bullfighter, of a great control which could pass for coldness, it had, to gain the favors of the public, to put in scene this pride and this rage which the Aficionados affectionnent. Thus in 1945, of the bed where he cured himself of a Cornada, he launched on the Spanish waves a challenge to “Manolete”. The duel, which impassioned crowd, was stopped by the death of “Manolete”.

In 1958, his/her brother-in-law, Antonio Ordóñez will dispute this supremacy to him and their confrontation defrayed in his turn the chronicle. It is immortalisé in the novel of Ernest Hemingway, the dangerous Summer. It ended in a series of serious wounds for “Dominguin”.

Large matador, he was also large seducer: Ava Gardner, María Felix, Lana Turner, Rita Hayworth, Lauren Bacall in particular, count among its innumerable conquests.

It was also known for its outspokenness. One of his/her brothers, Domingo, was manifestly known to be communist (it had been during several years member of the clandestine Communist party). At the time of a reception, the general Franco asked him: “Say me, Luis Miguel, among the three Dominguín brothers, which is communist? ” Answer of Shine Miguel: “But Excellence, everyone knows that we are all the three Communists! ” Domingo is evoked by Jorge Semprun in its book Twenty years and a day (Gallimard).

In 1954, it married the actress Lucía Bosé of which it had three children, in particular the singer and Spanish actor Miguel Bosé. He divorced Lucia Bosé in 1968, for remarier in 1987 with Rosario Primo de Rivera.

Impassioned bullfighting, Pablo Picasso often goes to Arles to see toréer Luis Miguel Dominguín of which he appreciated the company like that of his wife: the Italian actress Lucia Bump. The painter draws the costume of lights to him and also draws a famous portrait with the Indian ink.
