Biography
Lluis Claret begins its musical studies in the Principality. It goes then to Barcelona where it works under the direction of the brother of Pablo Casals, Enric Casals. This one will be its musical adviser during many years. He still studies with Rome and Paris with Radu Adulescu then with the the United States (Bloomington, Indiana) with Eva Janzer and György Sebök.Lluis Claret obtains the first prices of the international contests of Bologna (1975), Pablo Casals (1976) and Mstislav Rostropovitch (1977). At this point in time its career develops on the international plan. It is invited by the full orchestras: National Symphony of Washington, Philharmonic of Moscow, National orchestra of France, English Chamber Orchestrated, Philharmonica Hungarica, Czech Philharmonic orchestra, etc It played under the direction of Mstislav Rostropovitch, Pierre Boulez, Karl Munchinger, Dmitri Kitayenko, Witold Lutosławski, George Malcolm and Václav Neumann. It regularly gave master-classes and concerts to the Japan since 1994.
Its repertory extends from Bach to the type-setters from today: Swell, Dutilleux, Lutosławski, Xenakis, Guinjoan, Halffter, etc It recorded much for Harmonia Mundi, but it is for Auvidis-Valois that it engraved in November 1993 the integral of the Series Bach and more recently CD in memoriam Pau Casals.
In 1988, it is invited to the First World congress of Violoncellists to Washington and fact part regularly of the jurys of the international contests most prestigious (Rostropovitch, Olimpiada Cultural Barcelona 1992, Trapani, Leonard Pink, etc). Since 1990, it goes regularly to Banff Center for the Arts to the Canada to give master-classes. It is also invited each year since 1998, in Japan and in Korea, for concerts and master-classes. It directs the International Training course of Violoncello of Saint-Michel of Cuxa to Prades and takes part regularly in the Academy of Saint-Jean-with-Luz.
In France, Lluis Claret occurred in many festivals (Lille, the Barn of Meslay, La Baule, Musical May of Bordeaux, International festival of Colmar, Sonates of Fall to Turns, Musique in Basque Coast, Festival of black Périgord, etc). With Paris, he often interpreted Don Quichotte Strauss, Salle Pleyel (with the National orchestra of France, the Orchestra of the Concerts Lamoureux). He plays regularly with the pianist Josep Colom with whom he gave a recital to the Musée of Orsay and three concerts within the framework of the Musical South to the Châtelet. He occurred in the series in the Concerts of Sunday morning to the Théâtre of the Fields-Élysées and more recently in the series " Prades with the Fields-Élysées".
Lluis Claret is currently professor of violoncello at the University of Music of Catalonia (Barcelona) and to the Conservatoire national of area of Toulouse. From 1981 to 1993, it belonged to the Trio of Barcelona with the violonist Gerard Claret and the pianist Albert G. Attenelle.
