Shimenawa
The shimenawa (or) is a cord crowned used with the Japan, consisted of large twists of rice straw braided from left to right, delimiting a crowned enclosure and particularly the surface of purity of a sanctuary shintô or surrounding a rock, a tree, etc, showing that it is about a territory of the field of the kami and thus that any type of pollution must be excluded about it. One often hangs there nusa (), kinds of Gohei (), or rice ears.
