Shimama

Shimama is a small town of approximately 1000 inhabitants, located at the south of the island of Tanega (Tanega-shima), on the west coast. In spite of its weak population, Shimama is equipped with a small fishing port, as well as industrialo-commercial port. The presence of this last can be explained by the absence of another front coastal town, with 30 kilometers in north, the town of Nishinoomote.
