Term of shooting to the arc.
The origins of the shihanmato go back to more than 400 years. “ Shihanmato ” means “4.5 targets”, because the peasants had received the permission to employ a demanding arc that the target either with 4 shaku and 5 sun (or approximately 136.35 centimetres). The shooting is carried out with knees, sitted in Seiza , possibly sitted on a small stool to relieve the posture. The arc short used is a Hankyu, of form similar to the Yumi.
