Shigeru Egami

Shigeru Egami is a Karaté ka Japan board born the December 7th 1912 with Fukuoka-ken, in the island of Kyushu.

It enters in 1932 to the Université of Waseda where it studies under the direction of the sensei Shimoda, which will die prematurely, and takes part, with Yoshitaka Funakoshi, the son of the Master, also called Gigo, with several demonstrations with Nagoya, Kōbe, Yawata and Wakamatsu.

Shigeru Egami is intended for Karate-C, and becomes member of the Karate-Kenkyu-kai. In 1935, association Shotokaï gathers the disciples of the Funakoshi Master. The Master Main Egami second Funakoshi and becomes member of the jury of the seat of Shotokan. In September 1955, Maître Egami becomes Shihan club of Karate of the university of Gakushuin.

The April 26th 1957, the Master Gichin Funakoshi dies. September 1st opens Tokyu Karaté Dojo and Maître Egami is officially named by it shihan. In October, it becomes also the shihan club of Karate of the universities of Chuo and Toho. Shotokaï association is reconstituted in accordance with the last wills of its founder; as an agent of Karate-C created by the Funakoshi Master, Shigeru Egami insufflates a new dimension with this art which, like the Aikido of the Master Ueshiba, is connected from now on completely with the Budo.

The Egami Master encourages the creation of schools in Japan and in the whole world. In November 1970, it publishes " Karate-C, with the use of the professionals ". It supervises, in 1975, the rebuilding of Shotokan Dojo, with Tokyo, Shibaura (currently with Mejiro, Toshima-ku), and becomes about it, as of 1976, Shihan (chief of the instructors). In June of the same year, he visits five countries of Europe, of which the France where accommodates it representing it of its association Shotokai, the Master Tetsuji Murakami.

The January 8th 1981 at 7 p.m., Shigeru Egami dies with Tokyo.
