Birth

The creation of this trophy is mentioned in an article of 1892 of Athletic Sports , newspaper of the USFSA:

" It is to the Baron Pierre de Coubertin, that returned the heavy material task (…), it is him which wanted to take care well of the delicate functions of referee (…), it is also him which offered the challenge whose victorious club had the load: a splendid damascened shield, in the center weapons of the Union, two intertwined rings and the currency " Ludus Pro Patria".

Assembled on a splendid framework of red cuddly toy, this objet d'art makes more the great honor with that which conceived it. We believe it which the author other than is not devoted and sympathetic nerve secretary of the Union… "
