Shelter Lump

The shelter Pataud is a prehistoric site which is in the middle of the village of the Eyzies-with-Tayac in the Dordogne.

He was excavated under the direction of H.L. Movius of 1958 to 1964 then, more recently, by a research team of the national Natural history museum of natural history. Results of the excavations of H.L. Movius were compiled by H.M. Bricker, starting from the American original theses, without critical second reading of stratigraphy undoubtedly finer than that published. In particular, one could have apprehended subdivisions of the great lithic phases in elementary stratigraphic subsets, allowing the study of the evolution lithic interns of the facies and their relationship with industries very close Laugerie-High Is. Those more recent obtained by the Natural history museum of natural history are always new.

The stratigraphic sequence includes/understands levels of the Paléolithique superior with in particular, upwards, of the old Aurignacien, evolved/moved Aurignacien, the Gravettien and the Protomagdalénien.
