Shelley Duncan

Shelley Duncan (born the September 29th 1979) is an American player of Baseball evolving/moving in major Ligue of baseball since 2007. He plays for the New York Yankees. He is the older brother of Chris Duncan, player of the Cardinals of Saint-Louis, and the son of Dave Duncan, old receiver of the Athletics d' Oakland and instructor of the launchers for Cardinals.

The college

Duncan was graduate in 1998 of the college of Canyon del Oro, located in the suburbs of Tucson in the valley of Oro. He played in the team of baseball of the school of 1997 which gained the championship of the state.

The university

Duncan studies at the university of Arizona, where in 1999, he is elected in the team of stars of the Conference CAP-10 as player of external field. It is selected in 2001 by the Yankees at the time of the 22nd tower of the draft of the major Ligue of baseball (62e total choice).

Minor leagues

In 2001, Duncan strikes with a Moyenne with the stick of 0,542 with the Yankees of Staten Island. In 2002 with Grasshoppers de Greensboro, it makes a success of 10 assistances by playing external Champ in defense and obtains an average with the stick of 0,375 with the beater in 69 matches.

In 2004, it strikes 19 blows of circuit in 424 appearances with the beater for the Yankees of Tampa in the Ligue of the state of Florida . In 2005, it strikes 34 blows of circuit and produced 92 points for Thunder de Trenton (level AA). In 2006, it strikes 19 blows of circuit for Trenton into 351 appearance with the stick and twice gains the price of player of the week on level AA.

In 2007, Duncan is elected in the star team of the international Ligue for the match against stars of the Ligue of the coast of the Pacific. He is elected player of May in international League. Before being called in major League, Duncan struck 25 circuits with an average of 0,295 for the team of the Yankees of Scranton/Wilkes-Bars in 91 matches. August 29th, 2007, Duncan is named player of the year of the Yankees of Scranton/Wilkes-Bars.

Major leagues

Duncan makes its beginning in major Ligue of baseball on July 20th, 2007 like striker replacing against the Devil Rays de Tampa Bay. It strikes its first blow in career and produces its first point. The following day, it always strikes its first blow of circuit in major League against Devil Rays. July 22nd, it strikes for the first time two circuits in a match, sending the ball twice to the top of the wall of the field external of the Yankee Stadium once again vis-a-vis Devil Rays.

Duncan is sometimes noticed for its enthusiasm and its energy overflowing in the shelter of the players. This led to the creation of its nickname, “Slam” Duncan. The trainer of the Yankees, Joe Torre, said in an interview with the chain YES which it tries to avoid being close to Shelley when it celebrates the success of his fellow-members.
