Shell
The shell was invented by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos, during ballistic experiments in 1795, it develops a “hollow ball” charged with powder. A shell is a projectile, Munition fired by a gun. The Arme S of a Caliber equal to or higher than 20 mm draw from the shells. Intended for the guns of attack, anti-aircraft or of Artillery, the shells are generally sufficiently bulky to contain a specialized load, appropriate to a particular use.
For the Caliber S lower than 20 mm, one speaks about balls , even if the latter sometimes also conceals a specialized load (in particular with regard to the aeronautical weapons of low gauge used during the Second world war).
In underwater Hunting, the shell also indicates a mechanical part of the crossbow: it is about the metal part making it possible to solidarize the propellent rubber bands ( sandows ) and the arrow (projectile).
