Sheaffer
The company Sheaffer was during many years leader on the market of the Stylo and in particular of the Pen-feather.
Following the invention of the first pen plucks by Waterman in 1884, other inventors will work to improve this product.
At the beginning of 1900, A. Sheaffer, then Fort Madison jeweller sold bijous, watches and from time to time some pens. At the time, those are provided with a tank filling by a removable system of ring compressing a rubber pipe. Walter Sheaffer had the idea to replace this unaesthetic accessory by a lever which one folded back in the body of the pen, which made it almost invisible. And especially, one was not likely any more to make inadvertently run ink while pressing on rubber. The patent was deposited in 1912, and the company Sheaffer created in 1913.
