Shattuara I

King of the Mitanni of C. 1320 to 1300, during the phase of disintegration of this kingdom. The royal inscriptions of the king Assyrie N Adad-nerari Ier (towards 1307 - 1275 av. J. - C.) tell how king Shattuara of Mitanni rebelled and made acts of hostility towards Assyrie. The bond between Shattuara and the royal dynasty of Mitanni are dubious. Certain experts think that he was the second wire of Artatama II and the brother of the rival of Shattiwazza, Shuttarna. Adad-nerari claims to have captured king Shattuara and to have brought it to Assur, where this last lent allegiance to him. After that, it was authorized to turn over to Mitanni and paid a tribute with Adad-nerari regularly. These events have to occur during the reign of the king hittite Mursili II, but there is not any precise chronology.
