Shaoyang (邵阳; Shàoyáng) is a city of the south-west of the province of the Hunan in China. Its population was of: 337600 inhabitants in 2002. One speaks the dialect there about Shaoyang of the group of the dialects of Lou Shao of the Xiang.

Administrative divisions

The city-prefecture of Shaoyang exerts its jurisdiction on twelve subdivisions - three districts, a city-county, seven counties and a autonomous county  :

• the county of Shaoyang - 邵阳县 Shàoyáng Xiàn   ;
• the county of Xinshao - 新邵县 Xīnshào Xiàn   ;
• the county of Longhui - 隆回县 Lónghuí Xiàn   ;
• the county of Dongkou - 洞口县 Dòngkǒu Xiàn   ;
• the county of Suining - 绥宁县 Suíníng Xiàn   ;
• the county of Xinning - 新宁县 Xīnníng Xiàn   ;
• the autonomous county miao of Chengbu - 城步苗族自治县 Chéngbù miáozú Zìzhìxiàn .
