Shaoul Avigour ( שאולאביגור ) of its true name " Meïrov" was a protagonist of the illegal immigration in Palestine.

Shaoul Avigour is born in Russia in 1899 and at age the 13 years emigrates in Palestine. He studies with the school Hertzliya of Tel-Aviv in the first promotions.

In 1920, Avigour becomes member of Kinéret and with the call of Joseph Trumpeldor, it joined the rows of the defenders of Such Hai, among which his/her friend Aharon Sher will fall to the combat.

Shaoul Avigour devotes its life to the defense of the country, that it is on the level of the protection of the establishments, the information and illegal immigration. It directs and organizes, since the Europe and on behalf of the Haganah, the departure of the survivors of the Shoah towards Palestine. Avigour remains however marked by the disappearance of his/her son, fallen to the combat at the time of the Guerre of Independence. It is at that time that he writes with his Sara wife: " I still remain in Europe only for the good of our people. "

After the War of Independence, it will continue its career within the ministry for safety and will write a work on the history of Haganah.

Shaoul Avigour dies in 1978.
