Shane Cough is a group of electro-punk music of Rennes (France).

Biography

September 2000: Exit of the first album, Delight In Disorder .

July 2001: After a round of a hundred dates in Swiss France and , the group decides to make a pause, in order to make it possible each one to conclude its personal projects. Marianne flies away in Portland cement direction, Oregon, while the other members finish their university courses.

2002 : Whereas the scenic services of the electro-punk quartet of Rennes still haunt the spirits of people who crossed their road (Transmusicales of Rennes, Découverte Printemps of Bourges, the Road of the Rock'n'roll of Saint-Malo, Flying Musiques with Metz, Panoramas with Morlaix, the Amazing ones in Lyon, O Choeursà Tulle, Osmose Festival, Aucard de Tours,…), the ideas accumulated during this stand-by invest their machines, giving life to new forms, sharper, plus incisors and at the same time more melody.

Be 2002, Marianne returns to France and interprets the role of Coral in " Oxygenate: Morte" value; , short-measuring carried out by Clément Tuffreau for whom Gauthier composes an astonishing band where Angelo Badalamenti (author of the musics of David Lynch) reveals as a mentor.

2003 : Shane Cough, supported by the VIP with St Nazaire, is retained by Fédurock (federation of the places of Current musics) within the framework of the device " Assemble-charge". the project makes it possible to the group to present a show even more succeeded. In parallel, the group works on its second opus and delivers two sets crashing to pieces during the summer, time to revive the spirits. Fury is with go, the machines appear relentless.

2004 : The group goes to Stockholm in order to record some titles with the Swedish producer Adam Kviman who, extremely of his experiment (Clawfinger, The Rasmus, Backyard Babies, Eagle-Eye Cherry, The Wannadies…), knew to perfect the bond woven between the coldness of electronics, the sensuality of the song and the power of the guitars.

Style

Incisive, violent one, rock'n'roll, sensual and declining, the new set surprises by its effectiveness: nourished universe of esthetic and cinematographic nightmares, calm environments and anxiogenes: true prelude to a digital terrorism invested by the envoutante presence and poisonous of Marianne. Some share between apocalyptic Berlin of Alec Worsens and Gothic Los Angeles of Nine Inch Nails, the sensuality first of PJ Harvey is combined with the waves epileptics of Aphex Twin. A new alchemy for punk digital: supersaturated guitars, synthetic, happy waves under amphets and riot-girl charismatic which will end up plunging the scene in a total blackout. Last detail: passed the black out, Shane Cough never makes recall.
