The swing cut is a family of Branle S described by Thoinot Arbeau in its Orchésographie (1589).

The cut swings are “ made up and intermingled with double, of simple, feet in the air, feet togethers and jumps ”, written Arbeau. They are arranged in continuations of dances and the musicians call them swings of cut Champagne , swings of Hainaut , swings of Avignon , etc

Descriptions

The continuation of cut swings described by Arbeau consists of Cassandre , Pinagay , Charlotte , the War and Aridan . These dances are likely of ornamentations like the majority of the other swings.
