Shades off Green

Shades off Green (which one could translate by In the shade greens of golf ) is a hotel of the complex of Walt Disney World Resort in Florida created in 1973. This hotel is old the Disney Inn sold in 1994 with the American department of the armies which transformed it and reopened in with the exclusive use of the military personnel (active and not) like to their families.

The hotel is located in the hotel zone of the Magic Kingdom just at the west of the Disney' S Polynesian Resort. It is not connected directly to the monorail encircling the Seven Seas Lagoon but its proximitépermet to use the services of them.

It does not have really a topic particular to the image of the other hotels of the complex. The decoration is however close to the country modern club and standing.

History

The hotel opened at the beginning under the name of The Golf Arises in December 1973, like an extension of the clubhouse located between the courses of the Palm and Magnolia Golf Club.

It reopens after a light enlarging the 1986 under the name of The Disney Inn .

February 1st, 1994, service MWR (Moral, Welfare and Re-creation) Department of Defense of the United States sign officially a lease of hiring for the hotel in order to use it like a place of stays for the military personnel.

The January 12th 1996, Disney resells the hotel with the government which re-elects off it Shades Green .

Thanks to a self-financing due to its success, the hotel proceeds to an important enlarging and a reopening on March 31st, 2004. He adds a building of more than 200 rooms and a structure of carpark.

Buildings

The hotel of origin was built behind the clubhouse. The principal building consists of four bodies of building of three stages forming U and a fifth connecting it to the clubhouse. It includes/understands 287 rooms.

The clubhouse was increased to him in 1986 and 2004 in order to accommodate the central services of the hotel, the restaurants and the shops.

In 2004, the entry was moved towards the south in order to restore a balance between the old one and the new building. The entry is done by a corridor which emerges in an interior garden. After a rise curving in the garden, the hall of the hotel is on the first floor. The hall opens by a veranda on the gardens and the lakes located between the old one (on the right) and the new wing (on the left).

on the left: the new wing, meeting rooms and the carpark
on the line: the reception, shops, the club house

Authorized people

As the hotel belongs to the service of the leisures of the American armed , it is not opened with the public. The reservations of rooms in the hotel are reserved only to the following elligibles people:

active members or withdrawn of the army
soldiers of reserve
the coastguards
civil employees of the Department of Defense.

However these people can accommodate during totality or part of their stays of the nonelligibles people.

The prices of the rooms are based on the pay related on the row or the rank. They are adjusted according to a dynamic scale with the rise plus the row/rank is high. The highest prices are comparable with those of the Disney hotels of the complex. The hotel indicates that the elligibles people must constantly have on them a chart allowing the checking of their elligibility.

The hotel also has reduction on the prices of the tickets for the parks thus only for the elligibles people.

Services of the hotel

The big room Magnolia Ballroom allows to accommodate nearly 500 people or to be divided into 4 equal rooms. Two rooms Oak Prefunction and Palm Prefunction also make it possible to accommodate meetings.
