Shaar-Haamakim
Shaar-Haamakim ( שערהעמקים ) is a Kibboutz located in the Vallée of Jezreel, with 1km in the North of Kiryat-Tivon.
Its founders come of two distinct origins; the first group made up of immigrants of Bessarabia, already prepared with the work of the ground in an experimental farm of Europe; the second made up of immigrants originating in Romania, all members of the movement Hashomer Hatzaïr. After their immigration in Palestine in 1929, they disperse between Hadera, Born-Tziona and Mishmar-Haémek, and during four years familiarize themselves with the country. They found Shaar-Haamakim units in 1933.
The kibbutz maintains the privileged relations with its Arab neighbors . In 1952, three groups made up of Arab villagers are formed in the enclosure of Shaar-Haamakim, in order to create a nearby kibbutz. The project will not succeed.
In 2006, 700 people compose Shaar-Haamakim, whose economy rests on an industry of solar heatings, a factory of flour and agriculture.
With the accesses of the kibbutz draws up the memorial in remembering Yossef Finkelstein, member of Shaar Haamakim and killed in the rows of the Haganah at the time of the riots of 1936.
