Shōnen-have
Shōnen-have (少年愛, love of the young men ) is a out-of-date term referring to the Manga and Anime reporting loves between young men, in particular for the Bishōnen. At the origin, the kind treated very strong but not-sexual relations between young men. Our days, it came from there to indicate relation romantic male-male. The predecessor of Shōnen-have was tanbi .
Works Shōnen-have are generally less sexually explicit than the Yaoi, and the characters who are implied there are generally younger. The shōnen-have is very popular with the Japan, in particular among the young schoolgirls and the housewives, and frequently finds themselves in element scenaristic of the Shōjo manga and animate. It also finds many people in America, in particular among the hétérosexuelles women between 18 and 24 years and among the homosexual men, although this last public is not a required target of the authors.
The term shōnen-have is not very much used in Japan because of an old connotation close to the Pédérastie and Pédophilie; the pseudo-English expression (Wasei-eigo) Boy' S Love (ボーイズラブ, bōizu rabu or Boys Coil or Boys' Love or BL) replaced it. Ironically, in the company Western one observes the opposite phenomenon: the English term " Boylove " is strongly connoted whereas the Japanese term does not have this direction.
The attraction of the shōnen-have is difficult to decipher, and in particular from the Western point of view. The majority of the assistantship is young person and female, and as such, the stories are mainly drawn by women, and are pushed near the female audience. Many fans declare being attracted by the beauty and the distance from the characters, like by the idealized representation of the male love. Some suggest that, owing to the fact that the stories exclude the women from the relations, they are not sexually distressing for this female assistantship all while enabling him to be identified with the characters. Others just like suggest that it is perfectly natural for the women to be émoustillées by the idea of the love and the sex between males, the erotism lesbian is incredibly popular near the male audience. In general, it is above all the discovery of the feeling in love seen by the men who interests the readers of these mangas.
The majority of the readers/spectators discover this kind on a series in particular, via a par or friend, and binds émotionnellement with the characters, in particular those having a spirit creative and appreciating to see the manner of reacting of various people in various situations.
The audience is strong: a manga as Gravitation generated 9 million dollars of profits to the the United States, where it is best the BD/manga sale of these 20 last years.
The shōnen-have must be separate production of data base aiming at the homosexual market; the relations which are depicted there are between boys, often as young as 14 years, but sometimes even 12 even 10 years, and are often completely foolish on a psychological level: dynamics is unrealistic there. The goal of the shōnen-have is the maintenance of imagination, and to be the reflection of the homosexual life at all. Although certain data bases for this market were marketed in Japan, it is always acts of business clandestine, independent and with small pullings and weak diffusion. This is explained by the fact that the goal of the novels Shōnen-have is not at all, according to their authors, to defend homosexuality, because the narration is often very far away from reality. The distinction between the narration and social reality is obvious: what is allowed in a manga (a lovesong between men) can be rejetté by its readers as soon as it is of reality and either about a manga.
The term JUNE was also used in Japan, but only for original work (by for fanfictions where the characters would be diverted with an aim of setting in homosexual scene), and mainly for the contents of the 1st popular magazine dedicated to the shōnen-have , JUNE magazine . This magazine, having reached its peak of popularity in the middle of the years 1980, devoted to a worship binanshi , the fine young man (predecessor of current the bishōnen ). Since, the majority of the manga shōnen-have professional were published in the traditional magazines for girls. A prosperous market for the Dōjinshi with topic directed gay recently developed in Japan, turning mainly around the Comiket. This great annual convention proposes several stages of manga indeed (mainly amateurs) and artists gekiga selling their works, one of the stages of the basement being dedicated to the shōnen-have and yaoi .
