Seymour Skinner

Seymour Skinner is one character of the animated series Simpson . He is the headmaster of the elementary school of Springfield. Its true patronym is Armin Tamzarian .

Seymour Skinner is the educational bureaucrat par excellence, constantly worried by a battle without means against the insufficient school resources, the chronic apathy of the professors, the démotivés and turbulent pupils - Bart while being the supreme example.

The name of the Skinner headmaster is a gag referring to the famous psychologist B.F. Skinner, known for its theories which claim that with suitable techniques of treatment of reward and punishment (the carrot and the stick), one can induce any behavior with any individual.

The personal history of Seymour Skinner is, following the example majority of the characters of the series, slightly tortuous. It is a veteran of the Guerre of Vietnam, single person, living alone with his old mother castratrice. However, in an episode of season 9, the Principal main thing, one discovers that it would not be called Seymour Skinner but Armin Tamzarian; orphan, hooligan flying of the bags on his motor bike, it would have taken the identity and the place of the sergeant Seymour Skinner, a man whom it believed dead in Vietnam. It was charged to announce the bad news with the mother of this one, Agnès. Whereas it was going to teach him the news, this one took it for his/her son, and it did not have then any more courage to acknowledge the truth to him, being made pass henceforth for its former adjudant. He lives at her since, and carried out the dream of truth Seymour Skinner, while becoming the headmaster of the elementary school of Springfield. At the end of the episode, a judge with granted to Tamzarian the use of the name of Skinner as well for the past, present as for the future, like with his/her mother, and issued as nobody should reveal his true identity under penalty of torture.

Its voice is interpreted, in the original version of the series, by the actor Harry Shearer. It is the actor Michel Modo who doubles it for the French version and Mario Desmarais in the Québécois version.

It carries a costume navy blue from which it never separates and who, according to his dires, “does not suit him any more”. It has as a passion the astronomy which it makes share with Bart Simpson in the episode the Comet of Bart (season 6). His/her father, Sheldon Skinner, made the Second world war under the command of Abraham Simpson where it was radio there.

Its life apart from the school

Apart from the elementary school, Skinner always lives in his/her adoptive mother, Agnès, who it materne excessively and prevents it from doing anything. His/her father, Sheldon Skinner, made the Second world war under the command of Abraham Simpson where it was radio there. In various episodes, it to us indicated that he had engaged with the Vietnam, where it remained during 3 years in a prison camp, episode of his life to which it does not hesitate to refer.

He would spend his Fridays evening to carry out Chinese portraits of him thanks to the complicity of his mother. It is seen time with other to wander in the laundries or the mini-markets like a true single person. More rarely, it benefits from its spare time to leave with Edna to the cinema, the restaurant or in the public gardens.

Its life at the school

At the elementary school, Skinner seems the severe headmaster, obsessed by the order, which makes of it the worst enemy of Bart Simpson, although, in several episodes, they show a great complicity.

Since the episode the teaching Love, it has a relation with the teacher of middle price second year of the school, Edna Krapabelle, but it had, at the time of a preceding episode, Jamais two without you (season 2), asked for the hand of Patty Bouvier.
