Sextus Afranius Burrus

Sextus Afranius Burrus was named Préfet of the court by the emperor Claude in 51.

After the death of Claude in 54, of a severe virtue, it succeeds during some time with Sénèque to advise Néron, containing the inclinations of the young prince by exerting a positive influence during the first five years of this reign. But after the murder of Britannicus, it was dishonoured by accepting part of the skins of the victim.

He dies in 62, of natural death (disease of the throat, cancerous according to modern interpretations).
