Severine , born Caroline Rémy , wife Guebhard , the April 27th 1855 with Paris and dead the April 24th 1929 with Pierrefonds, is a écrivaine and Journaliste Libertaire and Féministe French E.

Biography

His/her father was Fonctionnaire with the Préfecture of police force. Separated from its first husband (Montrobert) of which it had a son, it became the partner of Adrien Guebhard (1849 - 1924), Professor of Médecine, resulting from a family fortunate Suisse, which it married in 1885 when the Divorce was authorized in France. It had with him another son, Roland.

It met Jules Vallès with Brussels in 1879 and becomes its secretary. Thanks to the financial aid of Doctor Guebhard, it enabled him to start again the Cry of the people of which it took again the direction after the death of its founder, but that it left in 1888 following a conflict with the Marxist Jules Guesde.

Fallen in love with Georges de Labruyère in 1885, journalist with the Echo of Paris , it lived with him until its death in 1920, before taking again the common life with its second husband who died in 1924.

In 1897, it published, under the name of feather of Arthur Vingtras, of the libertarian chronicles in the Sling , the daily newspaper Féministe of the feminist journalist Marguerite Durand with which it was very dependant. It continued to write for other newspapers in which it defended the emancipation of the women and denounced all kinds of social injustices, including the Affaire Dreyfus at the sides of Mécislas Golberg. It supported certain anarchistic causes such as the defense of Germaine Berton and it took part in the efforts in order to save Sacco and Vanzetti in 1927.

Pacifist, it condemned the “Sacred union” in 1914 and adhered to the Socialist party SFIO in 1918. Collaborator with Humanity , it adhered in 1921 to the Communist party but it was seen obliged to leave it when one summoned it to break with the Ligue of the human rights which it had contributed to create.

In 1927, it signed the petition published the April 15th in the review Europe , against the law on the general organization of the nation for time of war abrogeant any intellectual independence and any freedom of thought, at the sides of Alain, Lucien Descaves, Louis Guilloux, Henry Poulaille, Jules Romains…
