Severe Victor
Victor Sévère (born on November 1st, 1867 with Box-Pilot in Martinique, dead on October 24th, 1957) is a politician inhabitant of Martinique and former mayor of Fort-de-France.
Brilliance raises, Victor Sévère continues his secondary studies with the college of Saint-Pierre where it obtains his baccalaureat. Then, it starts studies of Right in France. After having finished his higher learning, holder of the license, it is registered as lawyer with the bar of Cayenne. In Guyana, he is elected general adviser of 1893 to 1896. Then, it definitively turns over to Martinique its island of origin and is registered with the bar of Fort-de-France.
Political career

1900 : Victor Sévère is elected mayor of Fort-de-France at the time of the local elections. He will occupy this station until 1945 with some interruptions of 1907 to 1908, 1919 to 1924 and 1941 to 1943. Its presence with the head of the municipality is marked by many achievements.
- 1906: Victor Sévère is elected Député in the Northern district. With the House of Commons it is registered with the group of the Radicaux-socialistes.
- 1910: Victor Sévère is re-elected appointed but this time in the South, mandate which it will occupy until 1914.
- 1924-1928: Victor Sévère is appointed Southern district.
- 1934-1940: Victor Sévère is general adviser in Fort-de-France.
- 1936-1940: Victor Sévère is Député Northern district.
During the Second world war
The beginning of the Occupation, whereas Martinique is managed by the admiral Robert, Victor Sévère opposes savagely this last and the Régime of Vichy. In 1941, it is isolated town hall of the capital and the admiral Robert names in his place Jean de Laguarigue. Its membership of the Franc-maçonnerie is not foreign with this measurement. In 1942 it takes part in the Résistance and is particularly pointed out after the unloading in North Africa. In 1945, it contributes to the formation of the Committee of national release which ensures the rallying of the Antilles the free French Forces.
After the Second world war
In 1945, it does not aspire to a last mandate with the town hall of Fort-de-France and at 78 years withdraws political life. It settles during a few years in its field of Choiseul with Box-Pilot. Victor Sévère dies on October 24th, 1957 at the 90 years age and is buried in the cemetery of Box-Pilot.
