Sevelinges
Sevelinges is a common French, located in the department of the the Loire and the area the Rhone-Alps.

History
Thanks to research of the group Archéologique of Course have knows the old story of Sevelinges today.
The presence of the Homme is attested as of the Neolithic (10 000 to 20.000 years before JC). The excavations undertaken allowed the discovery of a stone axe and many cut flint tools.
With the Gallo-Roman time, develops on the slopes of Wood Grandjean, an important city, attested by the shards of Poterie and a coin of Bronze to the effigy of the Empereur Hadrian (IIe century before JC).
The creation of the Paroisse seems to go back to the 8th century, but it is only in 1219, that one finds in the cartulaire Lyonnais the mention of " Capellanus de Sivilinges".
The lord de Beaujeu perceives the taxable quota then. The family of " Sirvinges" or " Servinges" appears tardily, undoubtedly towards 1390. In 1576, it buys the Seigneurie with the Duc and the duchess of Nevers, Seigneur S of Beaujeu. Towards 1590, the family is anoblie for rendered services, at the time of the head office of Thizy by the members of a league.
The descendants of Jean de Sirvinges make build a Château which was transformed on several occasions.
First half of the 19th century sees the current development of the Borough. The current church, dedicated to Saint Jean-Baptiste is built in 1826. Many houses are built and the Route S are widened, of the important factories are created. Sevelinges was electrified in 1909, which explains, partly its strong development at the beginning of the century.
But it is necessary all the same to await it fine of the Second world war to see disappearing the last weaving looms which made the reputation of the " Blancs" rats;.
